REBELLE
A MEMOIR BY WENDY COOPER
When a drunk driver hit me head-on, ending my dreams to ski in the Olympics, I thought I knew what it meant to rebuild a life. A week after leaving the hospital, I started law school in a wheelchair.
I went on to build a career after setting a federal precedent, and eventually ran million-dollar cases from terraces in the South of France and beach cafes in Greece. It was a life of adventure, raising our son abroad. And chaos. It was everything I had hoped for, yet missing something I could not quite name.
I thought I already knew what catastrophe looked like.
I had no idea.
